Setting up a home network is no longer a daunting task with the 2.4 ghz Wireless Router by Linksys. Step 1
Unplug and turn off your cable modem and keep the router unplugged as well.
Step 2
Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into the 'Internet' port on the rear of the router. Plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet jack on the rear of your cable modem.

Turn on your cable modem and wait for the Internet signal to turn back on.

Plug in the power source and turn on the router. The Internet light should glow indicating that you are connected to the Internet.

Turn on your computer and connect it to router's signal. Launch your Web browser and enter 'http://192.168.1.1' into the Web address box. Hit 'Enter' to open the Setup utility for the router's network.
Step 6
Leave the user name blank and type 'admin' into the password box. Click 'OK' to open the router's settings menu. Create the administrator password for the router and set the password to connect to your network. You can also change the network's name (SSID) if you want.
Click 'Save Settings' and 'OK' in the setup menu to finish setting up your network.
